HAMBURGER HELPER
Adapted From: Keep it Simple by Marian Burros

 

1 lb. ground beef

1 cup (4 oz) uncooked elbow macaroni

3 tablespoons minced dried onion or ˝fresh onion diced

1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

1 ˝ teaspoon chili powder

1 can (6 oz) tomato paste

1 teaspoon salt

Use extra large skillet.

Brown the meat in a skillet. If you are using fresh onion add it to the meat as it browns. Drain off the fat.

Add 4 cups of water and the remaining ingredients. Stir and bring to boil. Simmer, uncovered, about 30 minutes, or until mixture is as thick as you like.

Makes 4 servings.


Comments: Gets better with reheating.

Half the cost, almost as fast, better for you and better tasting than packaged mix.
